Camp at Manuel Uy Beach Calatagan

Most of us know how stressful it can get when you’re staying in the Metro. Just imagine getting up early in the morning cause you need to travel at least 1.5hours just to get to work, 2hours to get home, work for 9 hours per day, 5 times a week… is really tough.

That’s why it’s best to unwind, and get some fresh air once in a while. I always try to do something new and charge it to experience.

One weekend, my friend asked me if I like camping and I told him that I haven’t tried it. It was so spontaneous that I ended up agreeing to go with him and leave everything to an adventurous trip. And this is how I crossed out camping from my bucket list! How cool is that?

We went to Manuel Uy Beach Resort at Calatagan Batangas. It’s at least 2 – 3 hours far from Metro Manila and has one of clearest water I’ve seen. The resort is well maintained and you’ll feel very secured even at night as the staff are very friendly and approachable. They will even help you pitch your tent and help you score an affordable freshly caught fish by the fisherman within the area.

This place is highly recommended if you’re traveling by yourself, with your partner, friends, and family. You can go here for a day tour or overnight.

There’s a lot of things you can do at the resort. Either you’re here to relax at the beach, read a book, or you can go for a swim. They also offer a boat tour to the nearby islands.

You can bring your own tent or just rent one. They also have tables and chairs available for rent. One thing I liked about the resort is that they have designated area where you can grill or cook your food.

Worried about where to take a shower and do your personal business? No worries, they got you! They have a dressing room, shower area and toilet with bidet. All these for free. They are also sparkling clean, thanks to their staff who always make sure it’s clean.

So, to sum up my experience, I created a Pros and Cons list to help you in case you want to visit this place too.

Pros

1. Everything is cheap/affordable. Entrance fee, rental of tent, tables chairs, food, etc. (Check one of the photos for the price list)
2. Relaxing, not crowded and has clear water.
3. Clean shower, toilet and changing area.
4. Strong telecom signal.
5. Well maintained. Most of the staff are there to clean the area.
6. All staff are friendly and approachable. They will help you pitch your tent, greets you with their warm smile every time you pass by them, will help you score a freshly caught fish at a cheaper rate, and lots more!
7. You will feel secured cause there’s security in most part of the camp site and there’s one to two roving guards at night to check on you.
8. Sunrise and sunset are the best.

Cons

1. Minimal lights at night (I guess, this is how it should be since it’s a camp site but could’ve added more street lights so you can easily go to the toilet even at night)
2. No cooked food inside the site. There’s a sari sari store but they only sell alcohol, instant noodles, shampoo, etc. (So if you plan to go here, make sure you buy from the local market before going. There’s a huge grilling area where you can cook your food)

Overall, my experience here has been 10/10. It was such a good place and a nice experience even if it was my first time. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back and would bring more friends and my family here!

Let me know below you’ve been here and how was your experience!
